TOEFL is the Test of English as a Foreign Language. The entire test is taken in one day, which saves you travel time and costs. And, there are more than 4,000 test centers to choose from. The TOEFL test is offered in 2 testing formats: Internet-based test and paper-based test. The format you take depends on your test center location. You can retake the test in just 7 days, if you want to improve your scores. Colleges will usually only consider your latest score.
TOEFL will test your ability to read, listen, speak and write in English at a college level. It is a requirement at many English-speaking universities for non-native applicants. It is also used by many government agencies and businesses.
TOEFL is administered worldwide by the Educational Testing Service (ETS).
The test is made up of 4 sections. The reading section consists of 3 long passages on academic topics, and questions about the passages. The listening section consists of 2 student conversations and 4 academic discussions, followed by questions. The speaking section consists of answering opinion questions about some aspect of academic life, then some integrated passages where the student must read a passage and listen to a passage, then speak about how they are related. The writing section consists of an integrated task, and a personal essay.

The test of TOEFL is an English language test designed for non English native speakers. The test of TOEFL is for entering the university, collage, or institute to get your degree or diploma for your higher education. You can also asses your English skills by taking the test. Also the Toefl test can be taken to achieve a scholarship, work, promotions, etc. The test consists of 4 parts or sections: reading, writing, speaking, and listening (all about one hour each). You need to prepare well before taking the test of Toefl and when you enter the exam you need to concentrate and try to answer the questions that you know (time is very important and can not be wasted on one one question) foe example if you think there is a question that you are not so sure about leave it and go to the next one if you have time later you can come back to it. time can be a major factor to get a better score in your test. In the listening section try to listen carefully to the speakers. Normally it is better it take a sample test before entering the actual exam (getting your self familiar with the test can save you a lot of time and increase your score). To study TOEFL you need to have the right materials, such as books, CDs, and practice tests. It is very important to get yourself familiar with the test before taking the actual test.

The TOEFL, or Test of English as a Foreign Language, is an exam administered by the Educational Testing Service (ETS). The TOEFL is taken by people for whom English is not their first language. It is used to determine ones’ understanding of the English language in its written and spoken forms in college and university settings and situations. A lot of colleges and universities that are primarily English speaking will require the TOEFL test for non-native English speakers that are applying for admission to those universities. There are various formats of the TOEFL, depending on where one will be taking the test. These include the paper-based test (PBT) and the internet-based test (iBT). Registration for the paper-based and the internet-based tests can be done online, over the phone, or by mail. Online registration can be done on ETS’s website 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Phone registration can be completed by calling 1-443-751-4862 or 1-800-468-6335. Registration can also be completed by sending in the online registration form that can be found online at ETS’s website. The mailing address is indicated on the form. The form, even if one is registering online or by phone, can be useful because it indicates the information that is needed for registration. Contact information, score recipients, and payment of fees are all required at registration. In addition, indicating the identification that will be used at the testing center, knowing the test location and test date desired are also needed when registering for the TOEFL. Early registration for the exam closes seven days before the test date, and late registration closes three days before the test date. There are fees associated with taking the TOEFL test, and there is an additional fee for registering during late registration. Fees depend on the format of test being taken, PBT or iBT, and are outlined online at ETS’s website.

The Right Fit for Your English Language Program The Institutional Testing Program (ITP) gives schools, colleges and universities, English language institutes, and other agencies throughout the world the opportunity to administer the TOEFL ITP test locally to their own students. The program uses retired versions of the paper-based TOEFL test. Approximately 1,500 institutions administer more than 300,000 tests annually under the Institutional Testing Program.
In addition to the TOEFL ITP test, which is appropriate for use with students at the intermediate and higher levels of English language proficiency, ITP offers the Preliminary Test of English as a Foreign Language (Pre-TOEFL). It is especially appropriate for students at beginning levels of English study. Pre-TOEFL scores are on the same scale as TOEFL scores (up to a maximum score of 500), but the test provides more discriminating measurements at the lower end of the TOEFL scale.

To study in Australia, students are required to pass the English language examination with the required marks. The most common English test acceptable by all Australian institutions is the IELTS test. However, there are other tests which may be considered and/or required by some institutions. The TOEFL test result is required for gaining entry into almost all U.S. universities.

Some Australian and New Zealand institutions will also consider the TOEFL score as equivalent to the IELTS score. The test is organised by the ETS (Education as Testing Service) and is usually in a multiple choice test format. As a guideline, a minimum score of 550 will be required for students who would like to gain a place to study in the U.S. universities. The TOEFL level for entry into university in Australia ranges between 550 & 570 on paper test base or 213 and above on computer base.

TOEFL exam review
http://www.flashcardsecrets.com/
While some tests are looking to see what you are ABLE to learn, the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is designed to test your understanding of what you have already learned. It basically checks to make sure you have a minimum competency level to protect the integrity of the testing process.

In other words, it's more about what you know than your ability to solve clever puzzles. This is good news for those willing to work hard, because it boils down to a very simple strategy: You can succeed on the TOEFL by memorizing as much information as possible so that you are prepared for as many possible questions as might come up on the test.
